There are four main methods for repairing whitening of car interior plastics. The appropriate solution can be chosen based on the degree of aging and your needs:
1. Professional Plastic Refurbishing/Restoring Agent (Most mainstream and effective)
Suitable for large areas of widespread whitening caused by aging. These products contain silicone oil, resin, and other penetrating ingredients, as well as melanin, which can replenish lost oils and rebuild the protective layer.
Procedure: Clean the surface → Apply the refurbishing agent evenly → Let it sit for 5–15 minutes → Thoroughly wipe away any excess oil until dry.
Effect: Restores a matte or semi-matte finish close to the original factory finish, lasting for several months to a year.
Recommended scenarios: Dashboard, door panels, center console, and other major aging areas.
2. Dashboard Wax/Plastic Protector (Light Repair and Daily Maintenance)
Suitable for minor whitening or as a protective measure after refurbishment. Primarily forms a brightening and protective film on the surface.
Caution: This method is prone to excessive shine and attracts dust; it only treats the symptoms, not the root cause. It is recommended to use it only every 2-3 months.
Procedure: Spray a small amount → wipe dry quickly to avoid residue.
3. Hot Air Gun/Hair Dryer Repair Method (Physical Scratches Only)
For localized whitening caused by scratches from hard objects, this method softens the plastic and allows it to spring back by heating.
Risk Warning: Temperature and distance must be controlled to avoid localized overheating and melting. Recommended for experienced users only.
